I see my gentle ways have been wrong ; and now I want you gone.

- Monica Guardado, Scorpio Moon

Monica Guardado was once a tender heart. If you look through Monica’s back catalog of indie-alt music, you will be whisked away to a quiet room with a piano in the corner and a lonely girl yearning to be heard. But people and the world have changed around Monica, and she has something to say about it. It turns out toxic friendships, bullshit jobs, and too much grief can really change someone.

Since stepping into the Nashville scene in 2019, Monica has made a name for herself as a singer-songwriter. From playing beloved venues such as The Basement, to landing placements in playlists with thousands of engaged listeners, to glowing reviews of her music in the indie blogosphere, people have taken note of her lyrical prowess and her infectious alt-pop melodies.

Her latest record Night School is an exploration of adolescence into adulthood. It captures the journey of a wide-eyed girl setting out into the world on her own for the first time, and finding out that people aren’t all that they seem. Night School explores the juxtaposition of Monica's tender heart colliding with difficult truths about love and friendship, and what emerges on the other side: a wiser woman who isn’t so terrified to use her voice anymore.
